Pilot's Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Lake Tahoe
The Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Lake Tahoe features a 41-millimetre case made of striking white ceramic. The ceramic colour Lake Tahoe is inspired by the winter landscape around Lake Tahoe, a mountainous area frequently used as a training ground by aviators from the nearby Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program (SFTI) The distinctive and subdued white shade has established itself as one of IWC Schaffhausen’s most emblematic ceramic colours. White ceramic is manufactured in a complex process by mixing zirconium oxide with other metallic oxides in a precisely defined mixing ratio. These powders are shaped into a preform called “green body”, which is machined closer to the final geometry. Afterward, the case is subjected to a heat treatment in an oven. After this so-called sintering process, ceramic has a hardness value of about 1300 on the Vickers scale and ranks among the hardest and most scratch-resistant substances on Earth. The white ceramic case is complemented with a pitch black dial featuring white printed numerals and indices, while the black hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® to ensure perfect legibility. The titanium case back is engraved with the emblematic “TOP GUN” logo. Powering this watch is the IWC-manufactured 32112 calibre. Its bidirectional pawl winding system reliably builds up a power reserve of 120 hours in the mainspring. The Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Lake Tahoe is fitted with a white rubber strap with a titanium pin buckle.
