Our approach
A watch strap or bracelet is not just an accessory; it plays a crucial role in ensuring excellent ergonomics and high wearing comfort. Our straps and bracelets are meticulously engineered and refined to the smallest detail. Each material has been carefully chosen for its quality, durability and aesthetic appeal.
Santoni leather
IWC Schaffhausen formed a partnership with the Italian leather artisan Santoni in 2011. Watch straps manufactured by Santoni are crafted from the finest alligator or calfskin leather and then colored by hand. During the coloring process, several layers are applied using a cloth and a brush to achieve the final nuance.

Strap materials
Leather impresses with a timeless and stylish look and complements all outfits and occasions. It is strong and, at the same time, breathable and supple. Because leather straps stretch and adapt to the wrist over time, they are highly comfortable. Our portfolio includes calf leather, alligator leather, and buffalo leather straps. Some references are fitted with leather straps made by the Italian luxury leather artisan Santoni. These straps are colored by hand and feature a unique patina.

Our mission for ethical sourcing
We’re particular when it comes to sourcing, and we’re transparent about it. Because we understand that the choices we make – what we source, from where and from whom - have an impact. From responsible material sourcing and respecting human rights to supporting local communities and ensuring habitat preservation and animal welfare – we want to ensure that the watch you’re wearing has minimal impact on society and the environment. We’re keen to share our watches’ story from their source to the boutique.
Where our straps begin
IWC’s traceable calf leather straps are sourced in Switzerland, renowned for its high animal welfare standards. The calfskin, a by-product of farming, is processed responsibly by Centravo, a leading Swiss supplier. Each hide is linked to a unique ID stored in a Central European database, tracing it back to the exact farm. All suppliers follow the Responsible Luxury Initiative’s animal sourcing principles, ensuring the “five freedoms” and reflecting our commitment to transparency and ethical practices.
Why strap tracing matters
Customers have the right to know how materials are sourced and understand their social and environmental impact. Transparency is non-negotiable and drives every step – from choosing responsible suppliers to ensuring traceability. With durable materials and precise engineering, our watches are crafted to endure. Beyond timekeeping, we’re committed to safeguarding the planet and its future.
